CAMCORDER REDEFINED: SONY DEBUTS WORLD’S FIRST CONSUMER INTERCHANGEABLE LENS HD CAMCORDER

SAN DIEGO, June 13, 2010 Following the 25th anniversary of its industry-leading Handycam product line, Sony today announced the innovative NEX-VG10 Interchangeable Lens HD Camcorder.

The new NEX-VG10 is the world's first consumer camcorder with interchangeable lenses and the first Handycam camcorder to feature an extra-large ExmorTM APS HD CMOS sensor.

"The NEX-VG10 takes Sony's Handycam line to the next level by allowing unprecedented artistic expression that isn't possible with conventional consumer video cameras," said Andy Bubala, director of Sony's camcorder business. "With this camcorder, video enthusiasts  and photographers can now capture cinematic full HD movies and premium stereo sound."

Check-out the current line of Sony HD camcorders at Shopping.com
Sony's NEX-VG10 Interchangeable Lens HD Handycam Camcorder is equipped with the same ExmorTM APS HD CMOS sensor used in the "NEX-5" and "NEX-3" digital cameras and compatible with the high grade "E-mount" series of smaller, lighter lenses optimized for video shooting with silent operation and AF. It is also compatible with a wealth of "A-mount" interchangeable lenses used by Sony's existing alpha DSLR camera lineup via a mount adapter (sold separately), including award winning Sony G Lenses and Carl Zeiss branded lenses.

Coupled with Sony's powerful BIONZ processor, the camcorder's ExmorTM APS HD CMOS sensor realizes high resolution video and 14 megapixel still images. Approximately 19.5 times bigger than the standard sensor found in conventional camcorders, the APS HD CMOS sensor enables an extremely shallow depth of field. This allows videographers to achieve cinematic results with stunning background defocus (bokeh). Users can also enjoy DSLR-quality photo capture with features like Auto HDR, Handheld Twilight, and Anti Motion Blur, as well as catch fast action sequences with a continuous burst rate of up to seven fps.

The NEX-VG10 can capture full 1920x1080 high definition video at up to 24Mbps for amazing clarity and detail, ideal for recording on to Blu-ray DiscTM media. It also comes with an E-mount 18-200mm lens optimized for video shooting that offers a powerful 11x optical zoom in addition to a silent auto-focus system and Optical SteadyshotTM image stabilization with Active Mode for superior versatility.

Satisfying the needs of serious videographers, sound quality matches the stellar imaging performance of the NEX-VG10. Its Quad Capsule Spatial Array Stereo Microphone uses advanced processing algorithms to combine signals from four individual microphone capsules. The result is exceptionally clear stereo audio with high directional response, allowing videographers to capture more sound from their subject and less background noise. The camcorder also features dedicated inputs for optional external microphones and headphones to monitor sound levels.

The camcorder's TruBlackTM technology brings remarkably higher contrast and brightness to its 3.0" Xtra Fine LCDTM swivel display,
delivering more natural, realistic colors and easier viewing in bright conditions. The LCD is supplemented by a high-resolution adjustable electronic viewfinder that helps framing, monitoring and capturing clear images.

Compact and easy to handle, the NEX-VG10 gives videographers the flexibility of a removable lens with the ergonomics and operability of a Handycam camcorder. An intuitive jog dial and hotkeys make it easy to navigate menus and adjust shooting parameters, including full manual control of Iris, Shutter Speed, Gain and White Balance for professional results.

Dual accessory shoes (Alpha Hot Shoe/Universal Cold Shoe) allow for many still photography and video accessories, such as the ECM-CG50 shotgun microphone and external flash lighting. There's also a choice of rechargeable battery options, including the NP-FV100 that provides up to 315 minutes of continuous HD shooting (may vary), and a specially designed soft carrying case.

Included with purchase as a download voucher ($99 value), Sony Vegas Movie Studio HD Platinum 10 video editing software includes powerful tools for video compositing, color correction and sound mixing to produce cinema-quality HD movies with ease. You can also share your creations via DVD, Blu-ray DiscTM media, or upload to the web all from one simple program.

The NEX-VG10 accepts both Memory Stick PRO DuoTM (including Memory Stick PRO-HG DuoTM) and SD (including both SDHC and SDXC formats) media. Users can record up to four hours of high definition footage (1920x1080, FH mode) when using the 32GB memory card.

Sony's Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo HX offers an industry leading 30MB per second transfer rate, which means Handycamusers can upload video clips in a fraction of actual playback time.

Price and Availability
The NEX-VG10 will be available in September for about $2,000 and presales on www.sonystyle.com will begin July 14. They will also be available at Sony Style retail stores and at authorized dealers

PENTAX 645D

Saturday, July 17, 2010

                                 PENTAX 645D
PENTAX's First Medium-Format Digital SLR Camera:

HOYA CORPORATION PENTAX Imaging Systems Division announced the launch of the PENTAX 645D lens-interchangeable, medium-format digital SLR camera. Thanks to the incorporation of a large image sensor, equal in performance to professional-standard digital camera backs, this high-performance model delivers super-high-resolution images with approximately 40 effective megapixels. It also offers outstanding dependability and superb operability and maneuverability to make outdoor shooting effortless and comfortable for demanding photographers.

The PENTAX 645D has been developed to provide super-high-resolution images produced by large image sensors — something previously available only on professional models — to serious landscape and outdoor photographers. It combines exceptional image quality with excellent maneuverability and outstanding reliability to simplify professional-level outdoor shooting. Thanks to the incorporation of a large, high-performance image sensor (measuring 44mm by 33mm) and PENTAX-original image-processing technology, it produces extra-sharp, super-high-resolution images with approximately 40 effective megapixels. It features remarkable durability and dependability, thanks to its lightweight but solidly built body featuring a magnesium-steel-alloy frame, reinforced glass LCD panel protectors and a reliable dustproof, weather-resistant construction. In addition, it is designed to be compatible with the majority of the existing PENTAX 645 system, so that current PENTAX 645-series camera users can take advantage of their valuable assets, including high-performance smc PENTAX 645 interchangeable lenses.

Major Features

Unprecedented image quality

Super-high-resolution images made possible by approximately 40 effective megapixels
1.The PENTAX 645D incorporates a high-performance CCD image sensor produced by Kodak. It measures 44mm by 33mm, and is approximately 1.7 times larger than its 35mm-format counterparts. Thanks to approximately 40 effective megapixels, it assures a wide dynamic range to faithfully reproduce the prevailing ambience and the sense of depth in super-high-resolution images that are rich in gradation and truthful in texture description. In order to bring out the full potential of the lens and the image sensor and assure the highest level of image-resolving power, the CCD unit is designed with no low-pass filters.

2.High-performance, high-speed PRIME II imaging engine
The PENTAX 645D features the acclaimed, PENTAX-original PRIME (PENTAX Real Image Engine) II as its imaging engine. Thanks to its high-speed data-processing capacity and new algorithm exclusively programmed for medium-format digital SLR cameras, this high-performance imaging engine produces super-high-quality images rich in gradation and faithful in color reproduction, while allowing speedy data transmission of large-volume image data — even RAW-format images as large as some 50MB per file.

3.14-bit A/D converter for faithful conversion of image data to digital signals
The PENTAX 645D features a high-performance A/D converter, which faithfully converts the large volume of analog image data output by the large CCD image sensor to digital signals carrying an extensive amount of image data, including resolution and gradation.

Solid, maneuverable body
The PENTAX 645D’s main frame is made of lightweight but strong magnesium-steel alloy, while the chassis is made of diecast aluminum to minimize the expansion and extension caused by heat and also to optimize kinematic accuracy and thermal stability. The LCD panels — one on the camera’s top panel, another on the back panel — are covered with tempered glass plates for extra protection. The PENTAX 645D’s body is also designed to be a compact and highly maneuverable medium-format camera, despite the incorporation of such dependable features as a dust-proof, weather-resistant construction with 70 special seals, outstanding cold-resistant performance to assure solid operation at a temperature as low as –10°C, and a newly designed shutter unit with a top shutter speed of 1/4000 second that can withstand as many as 50,000 shutter releases.

Dual SD/SDHC memory card slots
The PENTAX 645D has a pair of memory card slots for the recording of images on both SD and SDHC memory cards. This dual-slot design gives the photographer extra data-storage options: for instance, recorded images can be assigned to different cards according to recording format (such as RAW or JPEG), or one of the cards can be used as the backup of the other. The settings for each memory card slot can be easily made by dedicated button.

Dependable DR II mechanism to minimize dust spots
The PENTAX 645D comes equipped with the highly dependable DR (Dust Removal) II mechanism, which effectively minimizes annoying dust spots on recorded images, even when the lenses are changed in dust-prone outdoor settings. By shifting UV/IR-cut filters placed in front of the CCD image sensor at supersonic speed using a piezoelectric element, this mechanism effectively and efficiently shakes dust off the image sensor. Thanks to the user-friendly dust-alert system, the photographer can check at a quick glance for dust adhering to the image sensor prior to the actual shooting.

Newly designed, high-precision 11-point wide-frame AF sensor
The PENTAX 645D’s new SAFOX IX + wide-frame autofocus system features 11 sensor points (with nine cross-type sensors positioned in the middle) to assure the extra-high-precision focusing demanded of medium-format digital SLR cameras. To develop this sophisticated AF system, the entire optical system was redesigned, at the same time with the addition of the new functionality to analyze and make use of the light sources data in the field of view.

Advanced 77-segment multi-pattern metering
The PENTAX 645D employs a state-of-the-art, 77-segment multi-pattern metering system to assure super-high-accuracy light metering. The exposure accuracy is further enhanced by collecting such additional data as image orientation (horizontal or vertical) and the distance to and magnification of the subject using the sensors installed inside the camera body, with the obtained data incorporated into exposure calculations.

Large, easy-to-see optical viewfinder
Incorporated in the PENTAX 645D’s finder unit, a trapezoid-shaped glass prism not only assures an approximately 98% field of view, but also greatly contributes to the downsizing of the camera body. Coupled with a bright, easy-to-focus Natural-Bright-Matte focusing screen, the PENTAX 645D’s viewfinder offers a large, clear view of the subject.

Custom Image function to create desired visual effects with ease
The PENTAX 645D’s Custom Image function lets the user easily control an image’s finishing touches to more precisely reflect the user’s creative intentions, or to more faithfully reproduce the ambience of the scene. The user can select one of eight modes, including the new Reversal Film mode designed to create images with the colors that are typical of reversal film. In addition, all parameters — such as saturation, hue, contrast, sharpness, key, and highlight/shadow contrast — can be easily adjusted to desired levels, so that the photographer can shoot images with great ease.

Versatile, multi-mode exposure system for faithful reproduction of creative intentions

Hyper Program function
The PENTAX 645D's Hyper Program function allows the user to instantly switch from Programmed AE mode to Shutter- or Aperture-Priority AE mode with a simple turn of the electric dials positioned around the grip. A single push of the green button shifts the exposure mode back to the original Programmed AE mode.

Hyper Manual function
When shooting in the Metered Manual mode, the PENTAX 645D's Hyper Manual mode lets the user to instantly set the proper exposure for the subject with a single push of the green button.

Sensitivity-Priority mode
The unique Sensitivity-Priority (Sv) mode automatically selects the optimum combination of aperture and shutter speed for the user-selected sensitivity. The sensitivity can be shifted swiftly by electronic dial on the back panel. The variable amount of the ISO could be configured to either 1/2 or 1/3 steps per click.

Shutter/Aperture-Priority mode
Taking full advantage of the unique capability of digital cameras for the automatic shifting of sensitivity at any time, the Shutter/Aperture-Priority (TAv) mode automatically selects the most appropriate sensitivity for the user-selected aperture/shutter-speed combination. It allows the user to effortlessly experiment with a greater range of photographic expressions.

Large, easy-to-view 3.0-inch LCD monitor with approximately 921,000 dots
Positioned on the camera’s back panel, a large 3.0-inch color LCD monitor with approximately 921,000 dots provides a clear, bright view of onscreen images and menus. Since its wide-view design allows quick, effortless confirmation of the monitor image from approximately 170 degrees both horizontally and vertically, the photographer has little difficulty shooting images from low and high angles. The LCD monitor is also treated with exclusive AR (Anti-Reflection) coating to minimize reflections on the screen, even in the outdoor locations under bright sunshine.

Long battery life
The PENTAX 645D is powered by a large-capacity, rechargeable lithium-ion battery, which can capture approximately 800 images* when fully charged.
* Under testing conditions prescribed by PENTAX, when using a rechargeable D-LI90 lithium-ion battery with no flash.

V3800N SLR Camera

An SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera for film enthusiasts. Exceptional quality and timeless design make this camera a truly desirable item for any professional or amateur photographer.

Supplied with a high quality 50mm f1.7 or 28-70mm f3.4 Vivitar lens (shown with 50mm lens).

Our V3800N film camera is a classic film camera allowing to learn the basics of photography and experience the magic of traditional film without any interference. It is also the most affordable SLR (Single Lens Reflex) camera money can buy, and although it's not equipped in any automated features apart from a simple light meter, it allows to achieve professional results and explore photography in a creative way.

Getting the correct exposure
The proper combination of aperture and shutter speed is what you need to get the correct exposure. V3800N measures the light through the lens and indicates the correct exposure with a green dot in the viewfinder. If you see a red plus or minus sign, it means you have to adjust the aperture or shutter speed.
Technical Specs.
Type         : 35mm Single Lens Reflex Camera
Negative Size       : 24 x 36 mm
ISO         :  50-3200
Shutter         : Vertically running metal focal plane shutter
Shutter speed       : 1/2000 1s and "B" - continuous
Shutter Release      : Mechanical
Film rewind        :  Film rewind crank
Lens             :  Vivitar 50mm f:1.7-22 or 28-70mm f:3.4-22
Lens Mount        :  PK Mount
Exposure Metering    : Through-the-lens, full- aperture, center weighted light metering with SPD cell; Manual exposure with LED display; metering range EV 2-19 (with ISO100 film and 50 mm f/1.4 lens); ISO25-3200 film speed range; exposure meter switch activated by pressing shutter release button halfway in.
               TIPS
Here are three tips to measure the exposure correctly:
1. Look for something middle toned in the subject area to meter and use that suggested setting, making sure once again that it is also in the same light as your subject.
2. Meter off the palm of your hand, making sure that it too is in the same light as your subject. Then, open up one stop (your palm is one stop lighter than a gray card so you have to add light to make your exposure correct).
3. Or meter off a gray card in the same light as your subject. Gray card is simply a piece of paper with 18% grey tint.

What do you do if your gray card or hand cannot be held in the same light as your subject (maybe you are under a shade tree)? Well, you could take a spot meter reading metering off your subject without the meter being influenced by other areas of light. Then recompose and shoot.

Understanding ISO and film sensitivity
The first step in getting good results is to set your camera for the correct speed of the film you are using. The film ISO speed is a number that indicates the relative sensitivity of the film to light. The higher the number, the more sensitive or "faster" the film; the lower the number, the less sensitive or "slower" the film. For example, a film with a speed of ISO 200 is twice as light-sensitive or fast as a film with a speed of ISO 100. Similarly, and ISO 200 film is only half as fast as a film with a speed of ISO 400. Your film carton (and the film cartridge) will tell you the speed of your film.

Remember to set your ISO correctly!
In order to set your camera to measure the light correctly, you need to set the ISO dial to match the sensitivity of the film you're using. In order to do that you need to pull the dial next to the shutter release button and adjust it so it displays the correct value.

Tips on taking sharp photographs
Vivitar V3800N features a focusing device called a "rangefinder". The circular area at the center of the viewfinder gives an indication that the scene is either out of focus or in focus. If the subject is out of focus, you will see that the image is "broken" as if you were looking through a cracked glass, along the thin diagonal line which you can find in the very centre of the viewfinder. If your subject is in focus the two "halves" of the image will be aligned seamlessly.

Use a tripod
If you are taking a photograph at night or in dim light, the most reliable way to make sure your photographs are sharp is to use a tripod. Place your tripod on hard surface and if it's a light tripod you can use a weight to make it more sturdy. Some tripods have a hook at the bottom of the central column where you can hang a bag to add weight to the tripod. You can use a standard remote release cord with Vivitar V3800N, you need to attach it to the shutter button, there is a thread inside the button.

Shutter speed
There is a general rule of thumb - if you are using a 50mm lens then your shutter speed should be 1/50s or less to avoid blurred images. If you're using 100mm lens, it is 1/100s. So, 1 second divided by your focal length gives you a rough idea of the shutter speed required. If your subject is in fast motion (like a car or an animal) you need to make sure your shutter speed is as low as possible, around 1/1000s or less. You can use this shutter speed only on a sunny day or use a high speed film.

Loading and handling the film
Loading the film
If you already have film in the camera, use the dial on the left to roll it back into the cartridge. Pull out the metal lever and turn it in the direction indicated by the arrow until you can feel the film turning loose inside the cartridge. Pull the dial towards you to open the back cover. Once the back cover is open, in order to load a new film, you need to insert the film cartridge at a slant with the flat end facing up and the bottom end entering the camera first. Make sure the film is correctly aligned and stretched slightly and the film perforations are engaged with the sprockets, close the back cover until it clicks shut.

Handling film:
1. If the film rewind lever is stuck and you can't rewind the film, it means it's stretched across the shutter and prepared for another exposure. You need to press a small black button on the bottom of the camera to release the film.
2. Store your film in your fridge and never leave your film in direct sunlight.
3. When you are loading the film make sure you don't touch the shutter curtain inside the camera.
4. Ask if your film is safe while crossing any security checkpoints equipped with X-ray machines.
5. Always store your film in the lightproof container provided.
6. And always remember to rewind the film before you open the back cover!

Advanced tips
You don't have to rely on the light meter only. Here are some tips.
For example, the suggested exposure for KODACHROME ISO 64 Film is 1/60 at f/16 or an equivalent shutter-aperture combination. This simple daylight exposure guideline works because it is based on the relatively constant light from the sun plus the sky on sunny days. Sometimes called the "f/16" rule, the exposure for a frontlighted, average subject in bright sun (distinct shadows) is f/16 at a shutter speed that matches the film speed. You should decrease exposure by one stop for bright sun on light snow or sand, and increase exposure by one stop for an average subject in weak or hazy sun (soft shadows). There is an additional stop increase for cloudy bright conditions (no shadows), and another for heavy overcast or open shade. Increase exposure by one stop (either a slower shutter step or larger lens opening) from the normal for sidelighting, and two stops for backlighting.

Depth of field
The larger the aperture the smaller the depth of field. If you're shooting a portrait and you want the background to be blurred, you can use large aperture, for example f2.8. If you're shooting a landscape and you want sharp objects in the foreground as well as in the background, set your aperture to f22. The aperture stays fully open until you press the shutter button so you can only see the effect of the large aperture, but you can also preview the depth of field with your Vivitar V3800N by pressing a button just under the lens on the right hand side.

Aigo Ge-Kiln F210

Thursday, July 15, 2010

                                                           Ge-Kiln F210
On 10th June, 2010, aigo published the world's first Ge-Kiln style digital camera F210 at Beijing International Exhibition Center, presenting a new concept of consumer digital product to worldwide customers. Ge-Kiln style digital camera, as a combination of the profound Chinese culture and the modern digital technology, attracts the world's attention since the moment of publication.

What is Ge Kiln?

In Chinese language, "Ge" means old brother, so Ge Kiln is also called the Old Brother Kiln. It was invented by the Song Dynasty craftsman Zhang Shengyi in Liutian County, Zhejiang Province. It is said that Zhang Shengyi accidentally cooled the kiln prematurely when the porcelains were still too hot. The sudden cooling made the glaze cracked into pieces. He had to fill the cracks will different colored glaze, thus created a new type of glaze.
The most distinguished feature of Ge kiln ware would be its crackling patterns. The surface of the glaze displays natural patterns such as ice-crackles, fine crackles, or fish egg crackles and so forth. The areas enclosed within the cracks can vary from the size of large chunks of ice to speckles as small as fish eggs. The actual crackle lines also vary in width and can be filled in with different colors such as black, gold or red. This effect is sometimes referred to as "gold and iron threads". The crackling in the glaze is caused by differences in the degree of expansion of various parts of the glaze. This was originally an imperfection in technology, but was taken advantage of by porcelain artisans and made into added aesthetic element.
Ge kiln wares are simple yet elegant. They are indicative of the literary and aesthetic pursuits of the Song Dynasty ruling class, whose members spent on ceramic production techniques whatever was necessary to obtain pieces that satisfied fully their aesthetic desires. Even ceramic daily use utensils were so carefully and beautifully crafted as to appear ornamental rather than functional.

What is Ge-Kiln style digital camera?

aigo ge-kiln style digital camera F210 is special for its casing which looks quite like traditional Chinese ge kiln. It realizes the combination of traditional Chinese ge kiln culture and modern digital technology.
At present, all the digital camera brands pay attention to product design, continuously putting forward new concepts on appearance design. Dimension, color, thickness, screen size have all come to the focus of ID designers and outlook design more and more influences the consumer choice. aigo, as a famous Chinese consumer product brand, highly values the traditional Chinese culture and desires to embody the Chinese ge-kiln culture with their high-tech digital products. aigo tried out hundreds of times and finally found the way to present the pattern similar to ge kiln on digital products. The pattern on digital camera forms naturally and each digital camera is endowed with a unique pattern.

Features of Ge-Kiln style digital camera
a. A combination of Chinese culture and digital technology product
As has been put forward, aigo F210 is a combination of traditional Chinese ge kiln culture and modern digital technology product. For a long time, digital products impress us with their modern elements, including the metallic texture, the varnished case and the unified appearance. However, aigo Ge-Kiln style digital camera brings forward a brand new concept for modern industrial design. aigo's patented technology makes the digital camera more elegant and aesthetic. In a sense, it is a renaissance of the ancient porcelain culture.
b. Unique appearance
The patterns on Ge-Kiln style digital camera form in a natural manner. Although the appearances of these digital cameras are all quite similar to ge kiln, they are all different from each other. Thus, the tradition that digital products of one model are of unified appearance is broken. Each Ge-kiln style digital camera has its unique appearance, symbolizing your unique identity.
c. Excellent performances
aigo Ge-Kiln style digital camera is the most advanced in the aspect of technology, thus providing you excellent customer experience. aigo F210 is of 12 mega pixel CCD image sensor and can take a photo up to 12MB. Advanced Technology Packs Higher Image Quality into a Smaller, Lighter BodyThe High-Speed, High-Performance Venus Engine HD II

The Venus Engine HD II incorporates two CPUs. This not only boosts image processing speed, it also helps achieve an exceptional noise-reduction performance. Also, the two CPUs of the Venus Engine HD II allow long-time movie recording in AVCHD Lite while maintaining low power consumption. And the Venus Engine HD II features a new circuit that makes Intelligent Resolution Technology possible too.

Intelligent Resolution TechnologyBrings Out the Detail

In iA mode, the LUMIX G2 automatically identifies parts with outlines, detailed texture areas and soft gradation areas, and optimizes the edge emphasis on the outlines and detailed texture areas while using the Venus Engine noise reduction process to make the soft gradation areas smoother. You can capture stunning images with details you've never seen before in both photo and movie recording.

Dust Reduction System Protects the Image Sensor

If dust or other foreign matter gets inside the camera when you're changing lenses, it could cling to the image sensor and show up as a spot in photos. The LUMIX G2 helps eliminate this possibility by placing a Supersonic Wave Filter in front of the Live MOS sensor. Vibrating around 50,000 times per second, the filter repels dust and other particles. This keeps the image sensor clean at all times and eliminates the need for cumbersome maintenance procedures.

The Fun Doesn't End When You're Done Shooting for the DayHD Photos and HD Movies with VIERA Link Networking

The LUMIX G2 is equipped with an HDMI output terminal for direct transmission of digital image and sound signals. Just connect the LUMIX G2 to an HDTV using a single HDMI mini cable (optional). Carl Zeiss Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF.2

Sunday, July 11, 2010

ZF.2 version of Distagon T* 2,8/25

A Broad Perspective

The Distagon T* 2,8/25 is now available in the ZF.2 version for digital SLR cameras with an F bayonet. One of the most exciting features of the lenses from the ZF.2 series is that they support all the key modes such as shutter priority, aperture priority and program mode.
Wide-angle lenses open up a scene by providing maximum depth of field: Think of a dragonfly landing on a water lily with dozens of blossoms behind its iridescent body all in crisp perspective, or rocks, moss and crevices forming patterns and formations that extend to the horizon. The Distagon T* 2,8/25 from Carl Zeiss can help you create these kinds of unusual images – and not only in the realm of nature photography.
Thanks to its electronic interface (CPU), the ZF.2 range of lenses supports all the essential modes such as shutter priority, aperture priority and program mode as well as manual mode, even with non-AI camera bodies. This makes a ZF.2 lens easy to use even under the most hectic conditions.

Capture it All—the New ZEISS Wide-angle Lens with Electronic Interface
Carl Zeiss presents the Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF.2 for F bayonet mount

OBERKOCHEN/Germany, 08.06.2010.

Wide-angle lenses capture a large depth of field: A dragonfly that lands on a water lily while you can clearly make out the numerous blossoms behind its shimmering body; rocks, moss and cracks which create designs and formations extending to the horizon.
The Distagon T* 2,8/25 lens from Carl Zeiss can create such unusual perspectives—in more than just nature photography. Now this popular and time-tested wide-angle lens is also available in a ZF.2 version for single-lens digital reflex cameras with F bayonet. With its very small focal distance, this newcomer to the ZF.2 lens series offers all the creative possibilities of manual focusing in photography. The ZF.2 has an electronic interface (CPU) that supports all exposure modes of the camera like shutter priority, aperture priority and program mode, as well as manual mode (even with camera bodies without AI-coupling lever).
The Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF.2 is therefore ideal for photo enthusiasts who value creative, high-quality images alongside the comfort of automatic exposure control. You no longer have to manually set the data for focal length and speed in the cameras menu because the lens passes on these parameters to the camera. In addition to standard data such as lens manufacturer, date and metering mode, lens data such as the correct aperture value is also automatically saved. Thus, the ZF.2 lens is easy to use, even under tough situations. Martin Klottig, Marketing Manager for the Camera Lens Division of Carl Zeiss AG explains: “Often, you’ll find that you’re pressed for time to capture that perfect shot, for example when photographing animals. The Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF.2 enables the photographer to hold on to just the
right moment and take unique shots with confidence each time.”

The new Distagon T* 2,8/25 ZF.2 is available at a retail price of 755,46 € (excluding VAT). The ZF.2 lenses come in eight additional focal lengths, 3,5/18, 2,8/21, 2/28, 2/35, 1,4/50, 1,4/85, and the two macros 2/50 and 2/100.

ZF.2 lenses support all key modes (e.g. aperture priority, shutter priority, program AE or manual exposure settings) on camera models equipped with an electronic interface (e.g. current Nikon DSLR cameras). To do so, simply lock the aperture ring in the largest f-stop (e.g. 16) shown in orange.
On camera models without an electronic interface, the aperture is manually set on the lens aperture ring. With some camera models, it is possible to set in the menu whether the lens should be selected using the setting dial on the camera or the aperture ring on the lens. Please note that, for technical reasons, there is no halfway notch between the largest (e.g. 16) and second largest (e.g. 11) f-stop.The focused distance is not transmitted to the camera body.
For details regarding metering modes and further functions, please check the camera´s manual. The ZF.2 lenses accord to the Nikon AI-P standard (manual focus lenses with CPU).
